Cost-Saving Classical Music Support for Composers and Soloists

Making it in the classical music business is like swimming in shark-infested waters. Making it as a composer in today’s classical music business can be like swimming in a dried-out sea-bed. You need smart preparation and execution to avoid the many pitfalls lurking at every turn in the recording roadway.

We are nonprofit and devoted to helping you promote your music.

What We Do

  • We match your material with orchestras or chamber musicians in the USA and abroad;
  • We find the most economical venues for recording and performance;
  • We carefully examine all material to make an informed price quote for your project;
  • We have a quarter-century of proud collaboration with distinguished musicians worldwide;
  • We make price quotes only when we can guarantee them.

About Save the Music

During his first dozen years of conducting orchestras and choruses professionally in the US and abroad, founder Joel Eric Suben took every opportunity to include recent and neglected older works in his performances. In 1991, he oversaw the creation of Save the Music, Inc. and lost no time in obtaining grant support for the performance of new concert music.

In 1992, Suben oversaw the transformation of Save the Music, Inc. into a tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation. By late 1993, STM undertook the first of a long series of studio recording projects stretching up to the present time.

Along the way, STM has added to its activities by including in-school symphony orchestra concerts, live concert performances of opera, and recordings of the standard repertoire for the career enhancement of singers and instrumental soloists. STM frequently organizes studio recordings of chamber music.

With Virgil Thomson at the MacDowell Colony

Throughout a quarter-century of activity, STM's work has been guided by an obsessive concern for thorough preparation with the aim of providing to composers and soloists an enduring legacy in the form of faithfully rendered and highly professional recordings designed to enlighten generations of listeners to come.
